Why This Matters
According to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, in the UK, 1 in 10 people survive an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Around 7–8% of people in whom resuscitation is attempted survive to hospital discharge, but studies show that immediate CPR and defibrillation can increase survival chances by as much as 70 percent.
