Raising Awareness For Restart a Heart Day 2025

Restart a Heart Day 2025 with Defib Supplies highlights high-quality CPR, defibrillators, and life-saving community awareness across the UK.

Every October, Restart a Heart Day takes place across the UK to raise awareness of the importance of learning CPR and knowing how to use a defibrillator. The campaign, led by the Resuscitation Council UK in partnership with the NHS Ambulance Services, aims to give people the confidence to act quickly and effectively when someone experiences a cardiac arrest.

At Defib Supplies, we are passionate about supporting public health campaigns that make life-saving skills more accessible to everyone. This year, we joined trainers and first aid advocates from across the country to take part in a national challenge that celebrated Restart a Heart Day 2025 and highlighted the importance of high-quality CPR.

Supporting Restart a Heart Day at the First Aid Facilitator Forum

To mark Restart a Heart Day 2025, our team attended the First Aid Facilitator Forum (FAFF), an event founded by Heather Kingdon, CEO of Assist First Aid and Jenny Legg, CEO of Training Legs First Aid and the founder of the Bra Off, Defib On charity.

At FAFF, around 40 first aid trainers took part in a four-minute CPR challenge to represent the vital window of time in which CPR can help sustain life before emergency services arrive. The focus of the challenge was on performing high-quality CPR, ensuring the correct rhythm, depth, and technique to keep oxygen flowing to the brain and vital organs.

The event was an incredible display of teamwork, dedication, and education. Trainers from across the UK came together to promote the message that anyone can save a life with the right training and access to a defibrillator.

The Importance of High-Quality CPR and Early Defibrillation

When someone goes into sudden cardiac arrest, every second counts. Performing high-quality CPR helps keep blood circulating until a defibrillator or medical help arrives. A defibrillator, also known as an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), can then restore a normal heart rhythm with an electric shock.

When CPR and defibrillation are used together within the first few minutes, survival rates can double or even triple. That is why public access defibrillators and community training are so important.

How You Can Get Involved

Restart a Heart Day is about more than one day of awareness. It is a reminder that everyone has the power to make a difference. Here are some simple ways to get involved:

  • Learn CPR and how to use an AED

  • Encourage your workplace, sports club, or community centre to install a public access defibrillator

  • Register existing defibrillators on The Circuit- the National Defibrillator Network

  • Support public health campaigns that promote CPR and defibrillator awareness

Working Together for a Heart Safe Nation
